Dance The Medicine Scholarships & Work Trade Opportunities
At Dance The Medicine, accessibility and diversity are more than just ideas, they are core values. This is why every online and in-person training we offer is attended by students who join through scholarships or work trade.
Scholarships
Open to anyone eager to complete one of our conscious dance trainings but unable to do so due to financial limitations. This may include those living in countries with devalued currencies, people who are unemployed, underemployed, on a low income, single parents, and others facing financial barriers.
Work trade
Available for students who wish to contribute their energy and skills in exchange for a place in the course at either 50% or 100% of the tuition cost, depending on the trade. Tasks may take place during the training or outside of it. Our in-person trainings often require extra support with small but important roles, and beyond the events we also welcome contributions such as design, social media support, online tech support, and more. Let us know the skills you can offer, and we will explore how to create a good match.
How to Apply
Before applying, please visit the event page for your chosen training and review the information provided. You will find a full list of trainings here.
Once you have read through the details, please read the below important information. The link to the application form is at the bottom of this page and also at the conclusion of the work trade and scholarship information sections.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
For every live online training, we offer:
-
2 scholarships at 50% off tuition
-
1 scholarship at 75% off tuition
For every in-person training, we offer:
-
3 scholarships at 50% off tuition
-
1 scholarship at 95% off tuition
Please note:
If your chosen training is in-person, you will need to cover your own accommodation and food costs. If this would prevent you from accepting a scholarship, please let us know so we can discuss possible options. Payment plans are available.
Scholarship Application Deadlines & Details
-
Applications for 75% and 95% scholarships close 60 days before the start of your chosen training.
-
50% scholarships are awarded in the order we receive applications, usually within one week, to allow the most time possible to spread out payments.
-
Scholarship applications submitted less than 60 days before the start of your chosen training will only be considered for a 50% tuition reduction.
-
If you are not selected for a scholarship, we may contact you about a potential work trade position.
Please note:
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be available for the entire duration of the training.
WORK TRADE INFORMATON
Work trade can take place during or outside of a training but most often involves helping out during our in-person trainings as a Space Angel or Team Angel:
-
Space Angel: This role involves supporting practical tasks such as tidying the space before and after classes and taking on small jobs that contribute to the smooth running of the event.
-
Team Angel: In this role, you assist specific team members in their duties to help ensure the overall success of the training.
There are a limited number of work trade positions available for each training, and they are awarded on a first come, first served basis. However, we are also open to unique and creative work trade proposals. If you feel you have something special to offer, we encourage you to reach out—perhaps you have a skill we didn’t even know we needed! Contributions can take place either during the training itself or in the lead up to the event.
Job Description
The specific job description will depend on the work trade position you are offered and the terms we mutually agree upon.
-
During an in-person training: Expect to contribute 1 to 1.5 hours per day, plus 2 to 2.5 hours on both arrival and departure days. In total, your time commitment during the training will not exceed 12 hours.
-
Outside of a training: For tasks such as data entry, design, or online support, please be prepared to contribute up to 20 hours in total.
Important Considerations Before Applying
-
You must be available for the entire duration of the training.
-
Our trainings are rigorous and leave little room for downtime. Work trade participants may need to arrive early and/or stay late to fulfil responsibilities, meaning your overall time commitment will be greater than that of a regular student.
-
Punctuality, reliability, and cooperation are essential requirements for all work trade roles.
Exchange
-
In most cases, work trade offers a 50% tuition reduction for the training you choose.
-
You are responsible for covering your own accommodation and food.
-
In some rare cases, a 100% tuition reduction may be considered.
