FAQ

Q: Is this course appropriate for those trained in other conscious dance modalities like 5Rhythms, Open Floor, or Movement Medicine?

Absolutely. This DJ training was designed specifically for conscious dance applications. Many of our participants come from modalities like 5Rhythms, Open Floor, Movement Medicine, Biodanza, Soul Motion, and Dancing Freedom. If you're already trained in holding space through movement, this course will help you expand your skillset by learning to guide a full dance journey from behind the decks—bridging your existing facilitation skills with technical musical delivery.

Q: Is this program suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Many of our students start with no prior DJ or tech experience. The course is designed to support total beginners, with step-by-step guidance, hands-on practice, and ongoing encouragement. You’ll also be learning alongside more advanced DJs—some transitioning into conscious dance, and others who are already experienced facilitators wanting to level up their musical and technical skills. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of talent, but don’t worry—we break into beginner and intermediate groups for the technical classes, so you’ll be right where you need to be.

Q: Is this course appropriate for intermediate learners?

Yes! This training is designed to meet you where you’re at. While we provide foundational instruction for beginners, we also include intermediate-level content for those with previous DJ experience. If you already know how to use DJ software and are looking to refine your skills or shift into conscious dance spaces, you’ll find plenty of valuable material here. We split into beginner and intermediate groups during the technical sessions, so everyone gets the right level of support.

Q: Can I use different DJ software than Traktor?

Yes—if you’re already confident with another DJ software, you’ll be able to adapt the concepts we teach. However, if you’re new or only have a little experience—especially if you’re using a borrowed controller that’s mapped only for Rekordbox, Serato, or DJay—we recommend starting with Traktor. It’s the software we teach with, and using it will help you get the most out of the training. Trying to learn DJing and translate between platforms can lead to frustration. If you’re just starting out, learning with the same software as your teachers and peers will set you up for success.

Q: Can I really become a DJ in 7 days / 9 weeks?

Absolutely! In our programs, it's common for participants to leave—whether from the 7-day intensive or the 9-week online course—knowing how to DJ. It's entirely possible, even for those who struggle with tech. That said, if you finish the program and feel unsure, don't worry! You'll have access to the recordings of your online course for over a year, and if you join us live, you'll also receive a free self-led version of the training to revisit at your own pace. So yes, we really can teach you to DJ in just 7 days or 9 weeks—and you have a safety net!

Q: Does the DJ training include facilitation education?

Yes, our DJ training includes facilitation education. We teach participants how to use music as a facilitation tool—including track selection, curation, and song placement to create impactful soundscapes. We also teach other basic facilitation skills through our daily movement practices.
