Mayra Hernandez

Mayra is a multi-faceted being. She identifies as a music addict and navigator of the path of consciousness and meditation. After learning about Buddhism in Dharamsala, India while diving deep into her yoga and meditation practice as part of the Hridaya Yoga community in Mexico, she discovered the practice of conscious dance and movement meditation. Certified as an Ecstatic Dance facilitator in 2019, Mayra deeply believes that the synergy between dance, music and mindfulness has the power to heal and transform both the individual and the collective. As a way to contribute a grain of sand to this global transformation by acting locally she has dedicated the last two years of her life to shaping Ecstatic Dance Colombia; an experience of conscious dance, free movement and active meditation in which she invites people to experience dance and music in a conscious practice in order to achieve emotional and mental liberation. As DJ La May, she presents a hybrid set where she honors the Colombians, Latin-Americans, Africans alongside ancestral and tropical sounds. She loves to imbue her original tracks with live vocals.
